WhatsApp's Integration with Meta AI
Meta has recently launched its virtual assistant in India, Meta AI. After the complete roll-out of the service, Meta AI is now available for Indian users to use for free across the company’s apps – WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger. The roll-out was a clear indication that these applications will be using Meta AI to enhance the user experience. The go-to-messenger application, WhatsApp, is among the first ones to explore the powers of Meta AI.
According to a recent report, WhatsApp is working on bringing a feature to allow Meta AI to reply to photos and edit them. Before working on this update, the social media platform was reportedly developing an optional feature to generate images of themselves using Meta AI.
As per the WABetaInfo report, WhatsApp is testing the implementation of a new chat button to allow users to manually share photos with Meta AI, scheduled for release in a future update of the app. With this new capability, users will be able to ask questions about their photos, such as identifying objects or providing context. Meta AI will also offer the feature to make changes to photos, enabling users to edit their images directly within the chat by sharing a prompt. It is noteworthy that users maintain complete control over their photos, as it will be possible to delete them at any time.
The feature will help users gain insights about their images by asking Meta AI. This feature will also eliminate the hassles of using a different application to edit the images. It will streamline the user experience, enabling users to make quick edits and tweaks to their photos right within the app, thereby simplifying the process and boosting efficiency. The feature is under-development right now, but is expected to come out soon.
WhatsApp Avatars with Meta AI
The upcoming feature will allow users to take a single set of photos, which will be created with the help of Meta AI. Users must take setup photos that will be analysed to create these images, ensuring that the generated images accurately represent their appearance. Users can ask Meta AI to generate an image by typing “Imagine me” in the Meta AI chat. Additionally, users will be able to use this feature in other chats by typing “@Meta AI imagine me”. It is worth noting that Meta AI cannot read other messages, as the command is processed separately, and the resulting image message will automatically be shared in the conversation by the app, ensuring that user privacy is always preserved.
Meta is very serious about privacy concerns and made Meta AI follow the same. This feature will also be an optional one and will require users to opt-in. Users will retain full control over this feature, as they can delete their setup photos at any time through the Meta AI settings.
