Microsoft has recently updated the lock screen in Windows 10 and 11 to include widgets that provide information on various topics such as weather, stock market updates, and sports. While this change has been welcomed by some users, not everyone is pleased with the new feature.
User Reactions and Customization Concerns
One of the main complaints from users is the lack of customization options for the widgets. Currently, the widgets are based on preconfigured MSN info cards and cannot be personalized. Microsoft has assured users that customization will be possible in the future, but has not provided a specific timeline for this update.
If you prefer not to use the new widgets on your lock screen, you have the option to deactivate them. Simply go to Settings > Personalization > Lock screen > Lock screen status and choose “None” from the dropdown menu. This will revert your lock screen to its original state without the added widgets.
As Microsoft continues to innovate and enhance user experience, it remains to be seen how quickly they will respond to feedback and implement more flexible customization options for these new widgets. For now, users can either embrace the new feature or opt out until further updates are rolled out.
