To edge a patchwork quilt, first trim the edges to ensure they are even. Choose binding fabric, typically 2.5 inches wide strips. Sew the strips together end-to-end. Fold the binding in half lengthwise with wrong sides together. Align raw edges of the binding with the quilt edge, and sew using a ¼-inch seam allowance. Miter corners by folding the binding at a right angle. Once sewn, fold the binding over to the back of the quilt and hand-stitch it in place.
