Link to Windows, a feature of Android that remains somewhat underappreciated, offers a seamless connection between Android devices and Windows laptops. Many users are unaware of its potential, yet those who have discovered its benefits often find it indispensable. While receiving notifications and viewing my photo gallery on my PC is undoubtedly convenient, one feature that often goes overlooked is the ability to stream apps from my phone. This capability requires permission acceptance on the phone each time, which can detract from the overall convenience of the feature. Fortunately, the upcoming One UI 6.1.1 promises to revolutionize this aspect.
One UI 6.1.1 Will Make Streaming Apps On Windows From Your Galaxy Phone A Lot More Seamless
During busy workdays, I prefer to keep my phone at a distance to minimize distractions. Often, it rests on its wireless charger, and I choose not to disturb it. With Link to Windows, I can receive notifications and see incoming calls, ensuring that I stay connected without needing to check my phone constantly.
However, the process of streaming apps from my Android device to my PC has been less than ideal. Each time I want to stream an app, I must reach for my phone to grant permission, which somewhat undermines the convenience that Link to Windows is supposed to offer.
Fortunately, this inconvenience is set to change with the rollout of One UI 6.1.1. As reported by Android Authority, users will no longer need to tap the “Start Now” notification on their phones every time they wish to stream an app via Link to Windows. This adjustment comes in response to changes introduced in Android 14, and One UI 6.1.1 aims to provide a more streamlined experience.
I Already Have Access To This On My Galaxy S22 Ultra Running On One UI 6.1
Interestingly, despite the initial reports, I decided to test the functionality on my Galaxy S22 Ultra, which operates on One UI 6.1. I aimed to capture a screenshot to illustrate the typical streaming experience via Link to Windows. However, I found that the pop-up notification appeared differently than expected. It mirrored the interface showcased by Android Authority on their Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 running One UI 6.1.1.
For clarity, my Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is updated to One UI 6.1, and all relevant apps, including Link to Windows, are current. This raises the possibility that users may not need to wait for One UI 6.1.1 to experience this significant improvement. However, without access to other Galaxy devices for testing, I can only speculate.
