In an unexpected twist, Rockstar Games has inadvertently revealed details about the long-awaited PC version of its iconic title, Red Dead Redemption, through a PlayStation Store page. Early this morning, Eurogamer captured screenshots and video evidence showcasing a description that suggested players could “now” experience Red Dead Redemption on PC “for the first time ever.” This announcement, however, was fleeting, as the page underwent multiple alterations shortly after its initial posting.
PC Features Highlighted
The PlayStation Store page initially boasted a variety of PC-specific features. It stated that the game would include the complete single-player experiences of both Red Dead Redemption and its acclaimed expansion, Undead Nightmare, along with bonus content from the Game of the Year Edition. Notable enhancements for PC players were also mentioned, such as:
- Support for increased resolutions and framerates
- Compatibility with multiple displays
- Enhanced support for various accessories
- Spatial surround sound capabilities
As the day progressed, however, the page’s opening line claiming immediate PC availability was removed, and subsequent refreshes showed that even the detailed enhancements had vanished from the listing.
This revelation is not entirely new; whispers of a potential PC port for Red Dead Redemption have circulated since May. At that time, a datamine uncovered updates to Rockstar’s PC launcher site, which included new “marketing strings” hinting at a PC release. Observers noted that this method of promotion mirrored Rockstar’s approach for another blockbuster title, Grand Theft Auto V.
Among the most intriguing findings from the datamine was a line suggesting that players could “Journey across the sprawling American West and Mexico in Red Dead Redemption, and its zombie-horror companion, Undead Nightmare – now playable on PC.” This has led many to speculate that the release of this beloved classic on PC is not a question of if, but rather when.
As the situation unfolds, Eurogamer has reached out to Rockstar for further clarification, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
