Satya Nadella showcased Microsoft Copilot's new features, including Copilot Pages, at the Fast Company Innovation Festival. These tools unify communication for better collaboration. Microsoft also announced a partnership with BlackRock to create a billion-dollar AI infrastructure fund.
Microsoft is expanding its Copilot+ AI services to include AMD Ryzen AI 300 and Intel Core Ultra 200V processors, moving away from exclusive Qualcomm Snapdragon X support. New features include live captioning, translation, and generative AI. Rollout starts in November, with previews in October.
Intel has unveiled its Core Ultra 200V laptop chips, supporting Microsoft Copilot+ starting November 2024. AMD's Ryzen AI 300 laptops will also gain access then. First-gen Core Ultra laptops lack compatibility. NVIDIA 40 series GPUs are expected to support Copilot+, with timing unconfirmed.
Microsoft clarified that the Windows 11 24H2 update did not introduce the ability to uninstall the Recall feature, identifying this as a bug to be fixed. The Recall feature will be disableable but not removable. Concerns arise over Copilot+ and its privacy implications in corporate settings.
A third-party initiative, Oldpilot, enables users on older Windows versions like XP, Vista, and 8.1 to experience Microsoft's AI assistant, Copilot. Users need specific browsers and IrfanView installed. Testing on virtualized PCs showed smooth operation, though experiences may vary.
Microsoft's preview builds for Windows 11's 24H2 update reveal a code string hinting at potential Copilot integration into the Start menu. This could enhance the 'Recommended' panel with tailored suggestions based on user activity, though exact implementation remains uncertain.
Windows Copilot, a new AI assistant in Windows 11 Pro, helps users with tasks like writing emails and summarizing web pages. Summon it with Windows key + C or voice commands. Windows 11 Pro also features a fresh design, productivity tools, and Pro-exclusive features. Discounted upgrade available until July 21.
Microsoft is downgrading Copilot in Windows 11, replacing its integration with a web-wrapper app that lacks Windows-specific controls. This aims to offer more development flexibility and optimized user experiences. The timeline is uncertain but may align with the 24H2 release.
The new Copilot experience in Windows 11 faces criticism for its disjointed integration and removal of some settings features. However, Microsoft is expected to enhance it, aiming for a more seamless app with advanced AI capabilities in the future.
