The latest Windows 11 update brings a host of new features and improvements, with a focus on enhancing user experience and functionality. One of the most notable additions is the gradual rollout changes that introduce a new “Game Pass recommendation card” to the Settings home page. This feature is available on both Home and Pro editions of Windows 11 but will only appear if you’re logged in with your Microsoft account and actively playing games.
Emoji 15.1 Support
Windows 11 now supports Emoji 15.1, adding Unicode symbol-like shapes for various family constellations and several brand-new emojis. Users can now express themselves with horizontal and vertical head shaking, a phoenix, a lime, a brown mushroom, and a broken chain.
Show Desktop Button
The “Show desktop” button makes a return to the taskbar by default. If you wish to customize this, simply right-click on the taskbar and select Taskbar settings to adjust its behavior according to your preference.
File Explorer Changes
This update also brings some minor yet significant changes to File Explorer. Users can now create 7-Zip and Tape Archive (TAR) files via the context menu. By right-clicking on a file, you can use the Compress to file option to compress it using tools like gzip, bzip2, and others. Additionally, there is a new compression wizard in the additional options, which helps you select formats and add details. This wizard allows for different compression types and levels, making it easier to manage archives.
Moreover, copying files from the Windows Share window is now more straightforward with the new Copy button.
Account Manager
The update also marks the introduction of the new Account Manager in the Start menu. When you sign in with a Microsoft account, you’ll see an overview of your account benefits and easily manage your account settings.
Bug Fixes
In addition to these features, the update includes several bug fixes. Microsoft has addressed an issue with the Snipping Tool that caused distorted sound during video recording. Other fixes include resolving problems related to the safe ejection of USB devices.
To install this Windows 11 update, users can select “Check for updates” on their PC or contact the usual Microsoft sharing channels.
