Microsoft Enhances User Experience with Windows 11 Build 26100.1876

Recently, Microsoft rolled out an update to the Start menu, introducing a new account manager feature that allows users to manage their Microsoft subscriptions, including Office 365. However, this update initially complicated the process of signing out of a Windows account, placing the sign-out option behind an additional menu. In response to user feedback, the latest release in the Release Preview channel has reinstated a more accessible sign-out button, streamlining the user experience for those who need to switch accounts.

As detailed in the Windows Insider Blog, Microsoft has taken steps to address concerns regarding the new account manager. The previous update had replaced the straightforward “sign out” option in the Start menu, making it less intuitive for users. The recent patch restores this functionality:

The “Sign out” option is now readily available in the account manager when you open the Start menu. To switch to a different user, simply select the ellipses (…). A list of other users will appear, facilitating a smoother transition between accounts.

Enhanced File Sharing and Media Controls

In addition to enhancing user account management, Microsoft has also improved file sharing capabilities within Windows 11. Users can now drag and drop files directly onto search results, allowing for a more efficient method of moving files across the system.

Moreover, the update introduces media controls on the lock screen, providing quick access to music playback without needing to unlock the device. Battery management features have also seen enhancements, including a new energy recommendation that disables HDR and a notification that alerts users when their battery level drops to 20% while Energy Saver is set to “Always On.”

For those eager to explore these updates, the latest build is available in the Release Preview channel, inviting users to experience the improvements firsthand.

Why windows update is not installing?

Windows Update may not be installing due to several reasons including insufficient disk space, internet connectivity issues, corrupted system files, incompatible software, or hardware drivers requiring updates. Additionally, issues with the Windows Update service itself, such as it being disabled, can prevent updates from installing. Running the Windows Update Troubleshooter may help identify and resolve these issues.

How to disable windows 10 update permanently home edition?

Disabling Windows 10 updates permanently on the Home Edition can be challenging as Microsoft doesn't offer a direct option for this. However, you can disable it by setting your network connection as Metered, which limits background data usage including updates. Additionally, you can disable the Windows Update service via the Services app (services.msc). Note that these methods might not be truly permanent as updates can re-enable the services.
