Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit - A Heartwarming Journey of Healing and Friendship
Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit is a touching narrative about the healing power of helping others. Players step into the shoes of a spirit scout stranded on a mysteriously charming island after a bus crash. As you search for the rest of your troop and decorate your campsite, you also serve as the island's caretaker. Your mission? To tend to the ghostly woes of its spectral inhabitants, bringing peace and friendship to adorable bears and other animals suffering from past trauma. Once your restorative work is done, you can stretch out by exploring, fishing, crafting, and decorating to your heart’s delight.
An Indie Life Sim with a Cozy Twist
Like the original Cozy Grove, Camp Spirit is an indie life sim centered around taking care of each other. This time, your quest involves sentient fires, undead deer, and ghost animals with trauma. Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit bears some resemblance to Nintendo’s
You’ll fish, dig, power-wash, and so much more, crafting thousands of items along the way while providing care. But don’t worry — there’s no pressure to spend hours here. In fact, after a certain point each day, Flamey (a sentient fire) will tell you the island’s spirit wood supply has emptied and its food stores won’t replenish until tomorrow. You can keep playing if you’d like, collecting critters and hunting for treasures, but this serves as a natural pause for the day’s main activities.
A Stand-Alone Experience
New players need not worry about having played the original Cozy Grove to enjoy Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit. This stand-alone experience is welcoming to players old and new. All you need is a little empathy and kindness — they go an awful long way with Camp Spirit’s resident population. The bears are still processing the afterlife and could always use a pair of willing ears and an open heart.
The Essence of Cozy Games
At the end of a long day, sometimes you just need time to unwind. Video games are a great way to do this. The weight of the (virtual) world shouldn’t always be on your shoulders, though. That’s where cozy games come in. Farming sims, not first-person shooters. Low stakes, not twitch-based. A cozy game experience is where you’re more or less doing one calm activity at a time and there’s zero stress to do things faster than your own pace. They set a chill vibe through art design and serene settings, where your goals are along the lines of comforting friends, not saving the world. The original Cozy Grove, the Animal Crossing series, and Stardew Valley series are all textbook examples of cozy games.
New Features in Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit
Alongside familiar faces like Flamey and Mr. Kit, there’s a whole new cast of bears — including Kumari, Kyli, and Orsina. Also, check out a brand-new island to explore this time around, and new gameplay features like power-washing, which allows you to help restore the island to its natural beauty. And if you’d like some friendly company while exploring, there’s a new pup and an adorable snail as companions.
Connecting with Friends Through the Mailbox
One of the most rewarding parts of Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit is brand new: sending your IRL friends the perfect gifts from your island. This way, even though you’re not playing together, you’re still playing together. These gifts are a cute way to interact with your pals asynchronously and let them know they’re on your mind.
