Remastered for a New Generation
In a recent update shared on the PlayStation Blog, Jan-Bart van Beek, the studio director at Guerrilla Games, reflected on the journey of Horizon Zero Dawn, which first captivated audiences over seven years ago. The game introduced players to Aloy, a hero navigating a post-apocalyptic world filled with formidable machines, and sparked the creation of a vibrant community of cosplayers, virtual photographers, and fan artists who continue to inspire the developers.
As technology has evolved, so too has the desire to present Horizon Zero Dawn in a manner befitting the capabilities of the PlayStation 5 and compatible PCs. In response to this, Guerrilla Games has announced the upcoming release of Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, set to launch on October 31. This remastered edition promises to deliver the same captivating narrative and stunning visuals that fans have come to love, enhanced with significant technological upgrades.
The remaster features over 10 hours of re-recorded dialogue, motion capture improvements, and a host of graphical enhancements that elevate the game to the visual standards of its acclaimed sequel, Horizon Forbidden West. Players will be able to explore a richly detailed world, from frozen mountains to lush jungles, all rendered in breathtaking 4K graphics. The remaster also boasts faster travel between settlements, enhancing the overall gameplay experience.
Enhanced Audio and Immersion
Audio plays a crucial role in the immersive experience of Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered. The sound mix has been completely overhauled to support PlayStation 5’s Tempest 3D Audio Tech, offering a more dynamic and engaging soundscape. With hundreds of improvements to in-game audio and cinematics, players can expect a richer auditory experience that complements the stunning visuals.
The game takes full advantage of the PlayStation 5’s capabilities, utilizing the DualSense controller’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers to create a more immersive gameplay experience. Custom haptics have been integrated throughout the game, enhancing the tactile feedback during combat and exploration. Additionally, a new accessibility feature has been introduced, utilizing sound and haptic feedback to indicate interactable elements, ensuring a more inclusive experience for all players.
Accessibility and Upgrade Options
For those who have previously enjoyed Horizon Zero Dawn, the remastered version will support old save files, allowing players to dive back into the action with their previously unlocked outfits and customizations. Pre-orders for Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered will open on October 3, with existing owners of the game able to upgrade to the digital version for just $9.99 on both PlayStation 5 and PC. New players can purchase the game for $49.99 across various platforms, including the PlayStation Store, Steam, and Epic Game Store, which will include the Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition.
