The studio co-founded by streamer Guy “Dr Disrespect” Beahm, Midnight Society, has announced that it is cutting ties with the personality in light of new allegations surrounding his ban from Twitch in 2020.
Allegations Surface
Former Twitch employee Cody Conners took to Twitter to claim that Beahm was removed from the platform for allegedly “sexting a minor” on its Whisper messaging system and attempting to meet up with them at TwitchCon. While Conners did not mention Beahm by name, The Verge has spoken to former staff members who confirmed that the tweet was referring to him.
Ties Cut with Midnight Society
Midnight Society released a statement on Twitter, explaining that they initially believed Beahm was innocent but after speaking with individuals involved, they made the decision to sever ties. The studio emphasized the importance of acting with integrity for all parties involved, including their employees and community.
Legal Battles and Assertions
In August 2021, Beahm filed a lawsuit against Twitch over his ban, which was later resolved without either party admitting fault. Beahm has since taken to social media to assert his innocence, stating that he did not engage in any illegal or wrongful behavior and was compensated as part of the settlement.
