Streamer Guy “Dr Disrespect” Beahm recently took to Twitter to address the reason behind his 2020 ban from Twitch. According to Beahm, the ban was a result of him engaging in conversations with a minor on the platform’s Whisper messaging service.
In his statement, Beahm admitted that the conversations sometimes veered into inappropriate territory, but he emphasized that there were no real intentions behind them. He clarified that no illegal activities took place, no pictures were shared, and he never met the individual in person.
Civil Dispute and Settlement
Beahm also revealed that he went through a civil dispute arbitration with Twitch, which was eventually resolved through a settlement. He made it clear that there were no criminal charges brought against him in relation to the incident.
Despite acknowledging his responsibility for his actions, Beahm vehemently denied being a predator or pedophile. He expressed his disgust at being labeled as such and emphasized that he stands firmly against such behavior.
Impact on Midnight Society
Following reports of Beahm’s inappropriate messages with a minor, his co-founded studio, Midnight Society, decided to cut ties with him. Studio head Robert Bowling took to Twitter to address the situation, stating that he cannot work with someone who engages in inappropriate behavior with minors.
