Several Xbox games were already available on various systems even before their shift to a multiplatform strategy. However, one of the brand’s standout games has not had a native port for PlayStation 5 for years.

We are referring to Minecraft, the acclaimed title from Mojang Studios that runs on PS5 through backward compatibility with PS4. More hints about the release of a dedicated version for Sony’s console have just emerged in an update to the title itself, suggesting that the port is imminent.

Minecraft Could Finally Get a Native Port for PS5

We know that Minecraft lacks a native version for PlayStation 5 due to Sony’s previous refusal to send development kits to Microsoft and Xbox studios, including Mojang Studios.

In recent months, various clues have surfaced pointing towards a dedicated port for PlayStation 5; however, the announcement has yet to happen despite the recent celebration of the franchise’s 10th anniversary.

PlayStation fans haven’t completely lost hope, especially since a recent update to the game revealed another supposed hint of the rumored port for Sony’s console. Players meticulously analyzed the additions in the Tricky Trials update, and a discovery surprised the community: the game now features a “Preview on PlayStation 5” button, indicating that Mojang may indeed be preparing a port.

This section allows players to test upcoming features in the game before their official release. The option was already available for PS4, making it noteworthy that it now exists for PlayStation 5 as well. However, Mojang has not confirmed anything yet, so it’s best to await an official statement.
