In a distant world, in an ancient era, seven gods worked together to craft the lands now known as Noreya. These all-powerful deities commanded both respect and harrowing fear from mankind, who went on to worship the seven superior beings as the creators of their land and the conveyors of terror. However, where there exists saints, there also exists sinners. These blasphemous mortals went on to turn their backs on the seven and found within themselves their most vile and wretched selves. Born from this pent-in hatred new gods were brought into existence, feeding their malevolent powers from their terror-driven subjects.
Meanwhile, in the sprawling lands known as Lemia and home of the Goddess of Light, an unrelenting famine continues to sweep the population. The natives’ collective desire for riches and fortune were preyed upon by the God of Avarice, who promised them an end to their eternal anguish.
To repay their kindness, the god now going under the moniker of “God of Gold” turned all of his worshipers into grotesque, shapeless beings known as the Golden Shadows. Once a flourishing land, Lemia is now under the control of sinful greed.
Noreya: The Gold Project is a Game of Two Halves
Noreya: The Gold Project allows you to choose your allegiance. Will you follow the Goddess of Light or opt for the more sinister God of Gold? Choose carefully because your choices will not only affect the world around you, but also drastically change the powers you can unlock.
By following one god throughout, you will have the opportunity to unlock all of the spells that your chosen god allows. On the other hand, however, mixing your allegiances will give you a better variety of weaponized spells.
Not only does this offer you a way to customize your experience and balance your game out exactly as you wish, it also injects more replay value into the game. Those that enjoy their first playthrough will undoubtedly be driven by human curiosity to play it again and discover new powers.
The World of Noreya: The Gold Project
To further scratch that nostalgic itch that all of us gamers of a certain age so often experience, Noreya: The Gold Project takes place in a metroidvanic world. Hailing from the all-time classic hit, Metroid, this layout has been used time and time again since and still works well to this day. It’s twice as nice this time around, however, owing to the dual worlds of this game.
