The team behind the popular game Among Us, Innersloth, has recently announced the creation of a new fund to support indie game developers. The fund, named Outersloth, was revealed during the Summer Game Fest and aims to provide the kind of support that the founders wished they had in their early days.

A Focus on Indie Game Funding

Outersloth has made it clear that their focus is solely on funding projects and has no intention of getting involved in publishing games or owning any intellectual property. They are not interested in blockchain or web3 projects, VR games, or games that have already been released.

Already, Outersloth has provided funding for several projects, including Mars First Logistics, One Btn Bosses, Battle Suit Aces, Project Dosa, Rogue Eclipse, Mossfield Archives, and Strange Scaffold. Additionally, there are unnamed titles from Strange Scaffold, Visai Games, and Coldblood Inc in the works.

Supporting Indie Game Developers

CEO Forrest Willard expressed the team’s desire to support indie developers who may not have had the opportunities they deserve in the industry. He stated, “There’s been so many great indie games in recent years but it’s also no secret that it’s a rough time in the industry. Some devs don’t really get the chance they deserve so we thought we could help out a bit.”

Communications director Victoria Tran emphasized that the fund is a way for Innersloth to give back to their community of players and fellow developers. She said, “This is our way of saying thank you to our crewmates, players, and peers by helping some games and devs have the funding and freedom needed to ship their games. Then we all get to play them, which was the real plan.”

The Outersloth Fund is a beacon of hope for indie game developers navigating the challenging landscape of game development. By focusing on indie game funding without strings attached, Innersloth is fostering a more inclusive and supportive environment for creative minds to flourish.
