New Beginnings for Timbre Games

In a significant shift within the gaming industry, UK developer Timbre Games has officially severed ties with its former parent company, Sumo Digital. This transition comes in the wake of Sumo’s decision to implement cost-cutting measures, which led to the closure of Timbre Games in June. However, the studio’s leadership, under CEO Joe Nickolls, was determined to forge a new path.

In a heartfelt message shared on LinkedIn, Nickolls expressed the studio’s resilience and commitment to continue its journey. “As many of you know, Timbre Games Studio had to close our doors a couple of months ago, but we weren’t quite ready to throw in the towel just yet,” he stated. This sentiment reflects the tenacity that has become synonymous with the studio’s identity.

To facilitate this new chapter, Timbre Games has entered into a partnership with Studio Capital Management, which will oversee the company’s business development efforts. This collaboration is expected to provide the necessary support and resources for Timbre to thrive as an independent entity.

Nickolls also took a moment to acknowledge the invaluable assistance received from Sumo Digital during this transition. “The great people at Sumo Digital Ltd have helped us transition into a fully independent studio and allowed us to take the Timbre Games name and brand with us, and we are very grateful for their help,” he remarked.

Moreover, the outpouring of support from the gaming community has been a source of inspiration for the team. Nickolls noted, “The support we have received from the gaming community has been nothing short of amazing,” highlighting the strong connections that have been fostered over the years.

As Timbre Games embarks on this new venture, it carries with it a legacy of creativity and innovation, poised to make its mark in the gaming landscape once again.
