Exciting Expansion of the Fairy Tail Franchise
Kodansha’s Game Creators’ Lab has unveiled an exciting expansion of the beloved Fairy Tail franchise with the announcement of two new games: Fairy Tail: Dungeons and Fairy Tail: Beach Volleyball Havoc. These titles are part of the Indie Game Guild project aimed at bringing fresh experiences to fans of the series.
Game Details
The first game, Fairy Tail: Dungeons, is characterized as a deckbuilding roguelike adventure. Set to launch on PC via Steam on August 26, the narrative follows Natsu and Happy as they stumble upon a mysterious door beneath their guild. This door leads to a bizarre dungeon that strips intruders of their abilities. Their adventure takes a turn when they are rescued by Labi, and together they embark on a quest to navigate the depths of the dungeon in search of Labi’s friends.
In contrast, Fairy Tail: Beach Volleyball Havoc promises a lively sports action experience, featuring 2vs2 multiplayer beach volleyball matches. Scheduled for release on September 16, also on PC via Steam, this game showcases 32 magic-wielding characters from the Fairy Tail universe. Players will engage in chaotic matches where scoring points enhances their magical abilities, leading to increasingly frenetic gameplay. With over 100 different types of magic at their disposal, players can expect a whirlwind of action and laughter on the sandy courts.
Additionally, Kodansha has revealed plans for a third title, Fairy Tail: Birth of Magic, with further details to be disclosed in the future.
The Rich History of Fairy Tail
The Fairy Tail franchise has a rich history, having first captured audiences through its manga series, which debuted in 2006 and concluded in 2017. The series has inspired multiple adaptations, including four television anime series, two feature films, and various spinoff projects. The original manga and its spinoffs are published in English by Kodansha USA Publishing.
Fans can also look forward to the sequel of the initial Fairy Tail RPG, which is set to release this winter for multiple platforms, including the Switch and PlayStation 5.
As the franchise continues to evolve, the anticipation surrounding these new games reflects the enduring popularity of Hiro Mashima’s creation, ensuring that both new and longtime fans have much to look forward to.
