The Gamepad Keyboard Experience
Currently in beta testing within the Windows 11 beta channel, the gamepad keyboard layout incorporates button accelerators that streamline the typing process. For instance, users can utilize the X button for backspace, the Y button for spacebar, and the menu button to execute the enter command. The vertical alignment of the keyboard keys further facilitates easier input, making it a more intuitive experience for gamers.
This development is particularly promising as the demand for enhancements in Windows-powered handheld devices grows. The competition in the handheld gaming market is intensifying, especially with Valve’s Steam Deck poised to leverage its SteamOS for a broader range of Windows-based devices.
