Prime Day Delights for PC Gamers with Amazon Prime Accounts

PC gamers with Amazon Prime accounts, the time to beef up your gaming library is now. For years, Amazon has been distributing free PC video games, downloadable upgrades and bonuses, and cloud games to its Prime members as part of its under-the-radar Prime Gaming service. But this year's Prime Day event is bringing some very high-profile titles through Amazon itself and partners including the Epic Games Store and GOG (Good Old Gaming).

This story is part of Amazon Prime Day, CNET's guide to everything you need to know and how to find the best deals.

Among the games made available for free during Prime Day: Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League; Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration; and Chivalry 2. Suicide Squad, in particular, is a bit of a surprise because it just debuted in February to mixed reviews. Also on offer during the Prime Day window: Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II — The Sith Lords; Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX; Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge; Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood; and Card Shark.

In addition to the games you can download or add to your gaming library on Amazon, Epic, or GOG.com, Amazon also offers daily challenge puzzle games such as Figure and Frames, and some games you can play on the cloud through Amazon's Luna service, which don't require a download. Some of those currently available on Prime Gaming include Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition, Lego Fortnite, and XDefiant.

Though the games are marked as part of Amazon's two-day event on July 16 and 17, the free games were available to members a few days early. Amazon typically offers new free games and bonus content for gamers every month.
