In the latest Windows 11 Build 26236, some exciting new features have been spotted by Microsoft watchers. One of the most notable changes is the introduction of a toggle that allows users to turn off the notifications bell icon. This toggle gives users the option to clean up their taskbar by removing the bell icon, which indicates unread notifications.

Additionally, another toggle has been discovered that allows users to shorten the time and date display by hiding unnecessary information. These new toggles provide users with more customization options for their taskbar.

Improvements in the Settings App

Microsoft is also making significant improvements to the Settings app in Windows 11 24H2. One of the changes includes bringing more pages from the Control Panel to Settings. For example, the color profile management page, which was previously only available in the Control Panel, can now be accessed through the Settings app.

Users can now manage their color profiles under the Display > Color profile section in the Settings app. They can add their preferred color profiles or browse through color profile files with ease. Additionally, Microsoft is replacing the legacy fonts management page in the Control Panel with a modern settings page, offering users more control over fonts.

Other Improvements Coming to Settings

In addition to the changes mentioned above, Microsoft is introducing several other improvements to the Settings app in Windows 11 24H2. These include:

  • A new Color management page
  • Advanced toggle for Storage Pool settings
  • The ability to delete a Storage Pool directly from Settings
  • A toggle to manage device Encryption in Windows 11 Pro edition
  • Settings to manage AI components and privacy controls

As Microsoft continues to enhance the Settings app, the Control Panel will eventually be phased out in future Windows releases. Users are encouraged to provide feedback on these changes and share their thoughts on the transition from the Control Panel to the Settings app.
