Balatro, the popular card roguelike game, is set to make its debut on mobile devices later this month. The game, which sold 1 million copies in its first month, will be available on Android and iOS starting Tuesday, September 26th, 2024.
For iOS users, Balatro will be part of the Apple Arcade subscription on the release date. Playstack, the game’s publisher, also unveiled an announcement trailer to celebrate the mobile launch.
Playable Anytime, Anywhere
Balatro offers a unique blend of poker rules and roguelike gameplay, allowing players to achieve high scores and progress using Joker cards strategically. The game’s popularity on Steam has prompted the team to swiftly enter the mobile market to maintain their audience.
Balatro initially faced controversy due to its poker theme being associated with gambling, as acknowledged by its solo developer, LocalThunk, in a Reddit AMA. Despite the initial backlash, the game managed to sell a remarkable one million copies within its first month.
