Blackmagic Design has recently launched a groundbreaking app that brings digital film features and controls to Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel phones, transforming them into powerful tools for TV and film production. The new Blackmagic Camera for Android app offers Android content creators access to the same advanced tools found in Blackmagic Design’s award-winning digital film cameras, providing them with the ability to create cinematic visuals reminiscent of Hollywood feature films.

Available for free on Google Play, the Blackmagic Camera for Android app equips users with a range of camera controls and operating systems that enable them to achieve the desired cinematic ‘look’. With just a single tap, users can adjust settings such as frame rate, shutter angle, white balance, and ISO, all within the user-friendly interface of Blackmagic.

Interactive Heads-Up Display

The app features an interactive heads-up display (HUD) that displays essential information such as lens selection, frame rate, shutter angle, timecode, ISO, white balance, tint, histogram, and audio levels. Users can easily toggle the HUD on or off by swiping up or down, and select the area for autofocusing with a simple tap on the screen.

Users have the flexibility to shoot in either 16:9 or vertical aspect ratios, with the option to switch to 16:9 by holding the phone vertically. The app also offers control over video resolution and recording format, including space-efficient H.264 and H.265, along with professional monitoring tools like zebra settings for exposure checking, focus assist, frame guides, and audio options controls.

Advanced Media Management

Additionally, the Blackmagic Camera for Android app provides media management capabilities, allowing users to upload content to Blackmagic Cloud, engage in chat discussions, and access advanced menus. Users can record directly to Blackmagic Cloud in industry-standard files up to 8K, enabling collaboration on DaVinci Resolve projects with editors worldwide.

With built-in chat functionality, project members can communicate seamlessly, share creative ideas, and discuss shot selections without leaving the app. Users can also record clips to their phone, transfer them to a computer to free up storage space, and share files globally with other users.

Blackmagic Camera for Android is now available for download on Google Play, offering a game-changing solution for content creators looking to elevate their film production capabilities. For more information, visit www.blackmagicdesign.com/au.
