Here’s how to quickly add a group image and name in Facebook Messenger, for both new and existing chats:
Creating a New Group Chat
If you’re creating a new group chat:
- Open the Facebook Messenger app.
- Tap the “New Message” icon (it looks like a pencil and paper icon) in the top right corner.
- Select the people you want to add to the group chat by tapping on their profile pictures or names.
- Once you’ve added everyone you want, tap the group chat name at the top of the screen (by default, it will say “New Group”).
- You’ll see a screen with options to “Add Photo” and “Add Name.”
Add Photo: Tap “Add Photo” and choose an image from your phone’s gallery or take a new picture. You can crop and position the image as desired.
Add Name: Tap “Add Name” and type in a name for your group chat. This name will be displayed to all members in the chat list.
Once you’re happy with the photo and name, tap the checkmark icon in the top right corner to save your changes and create the group chat.
Editing an Existing Group Chat
If you’re already in an existing group chat:
- Open the group chat you want to edit.
- Tap on the group chat name at the top of the screen.
- You’ll see a screen with options to “Edit Group Photo” and “Edit Group Name.”
Edit Group Photo: Tap “Edit Group Photo” and choose an image from your phone’s gallery or take a new picture. You can crop and position the image as desired.
Edit Group Name: Tap “Edit Group Name” and type in a new name for your group chat.
Once you’re happy with the changes, tap the checkmark icon in the top right corner to save your edits.
