Google Keep for Android is embracing the power of artificial intelligence with an innovative feature designed to streamline list-making for users. Known as “Help me create a list,” this functionality is gradually being rolled out, allowing individuals to effortlessly generate lists tailored to their specific needs—be it packing essentials for a camping trip, compiling grocery items, or even curating a bucket list.
Google Keep's AI-Powered Feature
This new feature harnesses the capabilities of Gemini, Google’s suite of large language models (LLMs). It was first showcased during the Made by Google event on August 13, where the company also unveiled its flagship Pixel 9 series. With this tool, users can easily create shopping lists, to-do lists, and much more by simply articulating their requirements.
To utilize this feature, users need only to describe the type of list they wish to create. After providing the necessary details, a simple tap on Create prompts the app to generate a comprehensive list automatically. This functionality is conveniently accessible via a floating action button (FAB) within the Google Keep for Android app.
While the feature has been confirmed on the Google Pixel 9, reports indicate that it may not yet be available on other devices, such as the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra and the OnePlus 10R, leading to some uncertainty regarding its broader rollout.
Other New Google Keep Features
In addition to the AI-driven list generation, Google Keep has been actively testing and rolling out several other enhancements in recent months. Notably, in June, the app introduced multi-account support, enabling users to manage multiple accounts simultaneously in side-by-side windows. This development builds on the multi-instance support that was implemented earlier in 2023.
Another anticipated feature currently under development is the ability to resize windows within the app. This will allow users to maximize or adjust Keep windows to preset dimensions, enhancing flexibility and usability. The new sliding pane layout is expected to facilitate customization without adhering to fixed ratios, providing a more tailored user experience.
