Google Meet Add-ons on Android: Availability
In a recent blog post, Google confirmed that Google Meet add-ons on Android will soon be available to all Google Workspace customers. However, the rollout will take up to two weeks to reach all users, the company noted. Moreover, Google also mentioned that “Scheduled Release domains” won’t receive this feature until June 24-27.
Google Meet Add-ons on Android: How It Will Work
Android users will be able to find Meet add-ons in the Activities panel. This feature will be located alongside other functionalities like polls and Q&A. However, it’s important to note that desktop add-ons that won’t be available on mobile will be categorized as “Unavailable.”
Google stated that the visibility of all add-ons will be controlled by a dedicated setting, which will have separate toggles for the visibility of first-party and featured third-party add-ons. The company also confirmed that admins will be able to review their configuration by heading to Settings > Google Workspace > Apps in Google Meet’s video settings.
It’s also crucial to note that this setting will handle add-on availability for both the desktop and Android apps. This means that the configured setting will determine what types of add-ons users will see.
However, the end user won’t have to do anything while admins need to configure the settings for varied experiences. This setting will determine which add-ons in Google Meet will open on the user’s Android device.
