Google Play Store Introduces Auto-Open Feature for Apps
The Google Play Store is set to enhance user experience with a new feature that allows apps to open automatically after installation. This functionality will be integrated as a toggle option located beneath the Open button on app listings, becoming available immediately after a user selects Install.
Feature Overview
Initially discovered during a teardown of a previous Play Store update in June, this feature is now being previewed ahead of its official rollout. The toggle, labeled “Turn on Auto-open,” will appear once the installation process begins. When activated, it will change to read “Automatically open after install,” ensuring that users can seamlessly transition from downloading to using their new app.
As the installation reaches completion, the Play Store will also send a notification indicating the time remaining before the app launches. This notification will feature a consistent 5-second countdown, allowing users to anticipate the moment their newly installed app will be ready for use.
Currently, this feature is fully operational in Google Play Store version 42.5.15, suggesting that users can expect to see it in action soon. Updates will be provided as the rollout progresses, keeping users informed of the latest enhancements to their app installation experience.
