Android Smartphones with Built-in Notification History

In the ever-evolving landscape of Android smartphones, the ability to access notification history has become a sought-after feature. While not all devices offer this functionality, several prominent brands have integrated notification history into their systems. Among these are:

  • Samsung Galaxy
  • Google Pixel
  • Realme
  • Vivo
  • OnePlus
  • Motorola
  • Nokia / HMD
  • Tecno

For users whose devices lack this feature, there are alternative solutions available, which we will explore later.

Limitations on Recoverable Notifications

It's essential to note that the notifications you can recover are subject to certain restrictions. Primarily, you can only view notifications from the last 24 hours. Additionally, only notifications from apps and services with enabled access will appear in your log. For instance, apps with blocked notification permissions will not show up. Moreover, on stock Android OS devices like Google Pixel, history is not supported for 'At a glance' notifications.

Accessing Old Notifications on Stock Android

For those using stock Android, accessing old notifications is straightforward. The notification history or log is typically found within the Notifications settings. Here’s how you can check if the feature is enabled:

  1. Go to Settings on your phone.
  2. Select Notifications.
  3. Tap on Notification history.
  4. If it is disabled, toggle it on to start recording new notifications.

Once enabled, you can scroll through the notifications list categorized per app. Remember, turning off the notification history feature will erase both recent and old notifications.

Viewing Old Notifications on Samsung Galaxy

If you're using a Samsung Galaxy phone or tablet, the process is similar but located within the Advanced settings. Follow these steps:

  1. Open Settings on your Galaxy device.
  2. Select Notifications.
  3. Choose Advanced settings, then tap on Notification history.
  4. If disabled, toggle it to turn on.

Now you can see your recent notifications.

Accessing Notification History on Realme, Vivo, or Oppo

For Realme, Vivo, or Oppo devices, the notification history is found within the App & notifications settings. Depending on your model and Android OS version, this feature might be enabled by default. If not, follow these steps:

  1. Open Settings on your device.
  2. Select App & notifications.
  3. Tap on Notifications.
  4. Go to Notification history.
  5. If disabled, toggle it on.

Using Third-Party Apps for Notification History

If your device, such as Xiaomi or Redmi, does not come with built-in notification history, third-party apps offer a viable alternative. Many of these apps are free, though advanced features may require a subscription or premium purchase. One notable app is Notification History Log by ZipoApps. This app keeps a log of all notifications up to a day old and offers more comprehensive history through its 'Advanced History' settings. It also allows you to launch the app responsible for those notifications.

In conclusion, whether through built-in features or third-party applications, Android users have various options to recover and manage their notification history effectively.
