The Pixel 9's latest weather application is now available for early download on devices operating with Android 14, thanks to a report from Android Authority. Users can sideload the new Weather app by accessing the APK file through APKmirror. However, it’s essential to note that this version is still in development and may exhibit some bugs. For instance, if users experience device crashes, clearing the phone’s cache may help alleviate the issue.

Initially, the weather app was integrated within the clock application, but the current APK version allows for a standalone app, enhancing the user experience by streamlining weather checks.

The revamped app boasts a fresh user interface featuring rounded elements for displaying information, while retaining the core details familiar to users of Google’s previous weather widgets. Notably, users are not required to sign in to their Google accounts to utilize the app, although doing so will allow for synchronization of saved locations across devices.

More features could come with the Pixel 9’s launch

According to insights from 9to5 Google, the Weather app is expected to introduce additional features, including notifications for rain and weather forecasts. Dylan Roussel shared on X that enhancements such as a weather map and AI-generated weather summaries could also be on the horizon.
