Google is making strides in enhancing the user experience for its Quick Share feature on Android devices, particularly targeting those with larger screens such as tablets and foldable smartphones.
Here’s What We Know
The drag-and-drop file sharing capability, which has already found a home on Windows, is now on the horizon for Android users. Recent insights from the latest beta version of Google Play Services (24.34.32 beta) reveal promising developments in this area. Quick Share, previously known as Nearby Share, facilitates seamless file transfers between devices without the need for physical connections.
At present, Android users must navigate a series of steps to share files: selecting the desired file, tapping the “Share” button, and then choosing the recipient device. The anticipated drag-and-drop feature aims to streamline this process significantly. Users will soon be able to effortlessly drag a file directly onto the icon of the device they wish to share it with, enhancing the overall efficiency and intuitiveness of Quick Share.
While the feature is still in its developmental stages and not yet fully operational, its eventual rollout promises to elevate the usability of Quick Share, particularly for those utilizing larger screens.
