Sonos has unveiled a significant update to its app, aiming to mend the rifts caused by its recent redesign. This latest iteration brings with it enhanced accessibility settings and improved stability during the product setup process, although it only addresses a portion of the feedback from users.
Key Features of the Update
Among the most anticipated changes is the reintroduction of the ability to clear the music queue on the Android app—a feature that many users have longed for since the app’s relaunch. Additionally, a new Night Mode toggle for sound bars has been added, allowing users to enhance dialogue clarity without the need to crank up the TV volume.
Despite these improvements, Sonos acknowledges that there remains ample opportunity for further enhancements. Following the controversial redesign in May, CEO Patrick Spence expressed regret over customer dissatisfaction, emphasizing that rectifying the app is the company’s top priority. This commitment has resulted in the postponement of two new product launches.
Earlier this month, Spence tempered expectations regarding the potential return of the previous app version. Instead, Sonos is steadfast in its plan to adhere to its development roadmap, which includes forthcoming features aimed at improving volume responsiveness, queue editing capabilities, and alarm reliability.
