When it comes to using video games for education, all too often my mind is cast back to the bad old days of BBC Bitesize and other rather underwhelming, stodgy fare. Fortunately, we've come a long way since then towards some genuinely enthralling and informative interactive media, such as today's subject, The Bird of a Thousand Voices.

Coming to us from acclaimed composer Tigran Hamasyan and artist Koren Matevosyan, The Bird of a Thousand Voices is a browser-only but mobile-friendly game that seeks to educate and explain Armenian mythology to those unfamiliar. It boasts gorgeous hand-drawn art and an original soundtrack to boot.

While I can't promise that The Bird of a Thousand Voices will give you all the info necessary to get a degree in Armenian mythology, it does present a tantalizing glimpse of it. You can check out the game on its official website, and the teaser trailer below to find out more!

Beyond Mythology

I'm Welsh, so there's little that speaks to me more than stories and mythology, and I often found them equally as compelling as more complex modern narratives. So I'm pretty intrigued by what something like The Bird of a Thousand Voices presents, as it shows off mythology that isn't often adapted as much as, say, King Arthur. You can find The Bird of a Thousand Voices on a browser near you!
