Embark Studios has released the Cold Snap update for Arc Raiders, adding a challenging temperature-based survival mechanic that impacts players with frostbite. This update, beginning on 2025-12-16, affects four of the game's maps: Dam Battlegrounds, Blue Gate, Buried City, and Spaceport.
New Survival Mechanics
Under the Cold Snap update, heavy snowfall conditions introduce frostbite, a negative status effect that gradually drains health when players remain outside too long. To counteract frostbite, players are encouraged to find shelter, carry extra medical supplies, or plan strategically when navigating extraction points.
Limited-Time Events and Rewards
The update includes two limited-time reward tracks. The Flickering Flames track allows players to unlock gear and cosmetics using Merits, which are earned automatically from XP. The Candleberry Banquet Project requires looting event-specific items to reveal banquet scenes and earn rewards such as cosmetics and Raider Tokens.
Expedition Project and Raider Deck
For the first time, an Expedition Project is introduced, enabling players to restart their accounts for temporary buffs and permanent unlocks including unique cosmetics and increased stash slots. Additionally, a new Raider Deck with an ice hockey theme is set to arrive on 2025-12-26, offering varied cosmetic items without an expiry date.
