MindFuel Games Launches Demo for New Scrabble-Inspired Game

22 Jun 2026

Game developers David Doak and Stephen Ellis, known for their work on Timesplitters and GoldenEye 007, have introduced MindFuel Games' latest title, Beyond Words. This new game takes a roguelike approach to the classic word game Scrabble.

Innovative Gameplay Features

Beyond Words transforms traditional Scrabble by removing its familiar square board. Instead, players face unconventional layouts filled with over 300 modifiers that alter letter values, offer multipliers, and add power-ups. This dynamic approach combines tactical tile placement with Balatro-inspired rule-bending mechanics. Obscure letters and long words yield higher scores, challenging players to think strategically.

Market Availability

A demo version of Beyond Words is now live on Steam, allowing players to experience the game before its full launch. The complete version is slated for release in early 2026 on both Steam and various gaming consoles. MindFuel Games aims to capture the interest of word-game enthusiasts and compete in the Balatro-infused market.

What Sets Beyond Words Apart

While the game’s visuals resemble mobile word games, Beyond Words offers addictive gameplay that distinguishes it from its competitors. Its unique modifiers and non-standard board designs provide a refreshing take for fans seeking innovation in word-based gaming.
