Crunchy Data Launches Crunchy Bridge for Enhanced Data Lake Analytics

06 Jul 2024

Crunchy Data, a prominent provider of trusted open source Postgres technology, has introduced an innovative solution: Crunchy Bridge for Analytics. This new offering empowers users to interact with their data lakes using PostgreSQL commands, facilitated by extensions and a vectorized, parallel query engine. Available immediately within Crunchy Bridge, the company’s fully managed cloud Postgres service, this tool promises to enhance data management and analysis.

Seamless Data Integration

Users can effortlessly set up foreign tables that link directly to Parquet, CSV, or JSON files in object storage. This process does not require specifying the columns in the files, enabling rapid execution of analytical queries. Crunchy Bridge for Analytics also boasts robust data import and export capabilities with Amazon S3 object storage. Users can create regular or temporary tables from files in object storage, load additional data, or export tables and query results back into object storage seamlessly.

Enhanced User Experience

Moreover, users benefit from all existing features of Crunchy Bridge, including saved queries, built-in connection pooling, VPC, container apps, and more. Craig Kerstiens, Crunchy Data’s Chief Product Officer, highlighted that “Crunchy Bridge for Analytics streamlines the user experience of implementing analytics workflows, minimizing the need for potentially fragile and expensive integrations with third-party analytics and data movement tools, while bringing cost efficiencies.” He added that it leverages PostgreSQL features and extensions to enhance users' existing data lakes, enabling the construction of sophisticated analytics pipelines entirely within PostgreSQL.

Provisioning Made Easy

Crunchy Bridge users can provision Crunchy Bridge for Analytics clusters directly from their existing accounts. For more information, visit the Crunchy Bridge for Analytics page or read the detailed blog post here.
