Cyberpunk 2077 Now Playable on Android via Emulation

Cyberpunk 2077 can now be played on Android devices through emulation, bypassing the need for cloud streaming or a nearby PC. This breakthrough was demonstrated in a recent video by ETA PRIME, showcasing the game running on a smartphone using PC emulation layers like GameHub and WinLater.

Hardware and Performance

The demonstration used a Red Magic 11 Pro smartphone, equipped with a Snapdragon Elite 2 chip (referred to as Gen 5 in the video), 16 GB of RAM, and advanced cooling systems including a built-in fan and liquid cooling. This setup allowed the game to run at 720p on low settings with FSR 2.1 set to Balanced, achieving frame rates just under 30 FPS.

When FSR frame generation was enabled, frame rates improved to the mid-to-high 40s, enhancing gameplay responsiveness. However, this also introduced some ghosting and occasional hiccups due to the combined effects of frame generation and emulation artifacts.

Settings and Requirements

Using a Steam Deck preset, which is a higher settings profile, the phone averaged around 30 FPS, with potential to reach the 40s with frame generation. These results highlight the necessity of top-tier hardware and effective cooling solutions to maintain performance. Devices with lesser specifications may experience significant throttling.
