Google initially ceased Google Duo as a standalone app in 2022, incorporating its features into Google Meet. Despite the initial plan to retire Duo calling in September 2025, the timeline has been extended to January 2026.
The Google Meet Android app now displays this updated timeline, signaling users to export their call history before the option disappears. Users can manage and export their data through settings in Google Meet.
Data Management and New Features
Users must export their legacy call history before the January 2026 deadline. The export process can be completed as plain text or CSV files, ensuring important data is preserved as Duo functionalities are phased out.
- Enter Google Meet settings.
- Select Calling (legacy).
- Choose Manage legacy calling history.
- Export as plain text or CSV.
Replacing Google Duo, Google Meet now offers a suite of enhanced features: video lighting adjustment, on-device screenshots, Meet saver mode, live captions, screen sharing, raise hands, stackable effects, and cloud encryption.
