Windows 11 Update Bug Hides Password Icon on Lock Screen

Microsoft has confirmed that a recent bug in Windows 11 updates conceals the password sign-in icon on the lock screen, impacting user access. The issue is linked to the August 2025 non-security preview update KB5064081 on Windows 11 versions 24H2 and 25H2.

Update Bug Details

The hidden password icon can still be activated: users need to hover the mouse over its space to find the password text box. Yet, the absence of a visible icon could lead to confusion among users. Microsoft is aware of the problem and is currently working on a resolution, though no specific timeline for a fix has been announced.

Previous Update Issues

Besides the lock screen glitch, the August 2025 updates previously caused several problems. These included DRM-protected videos freezing, unexpected User Account Control (UAC) prompts hindering non-admin app installations, lag in NDI streaming, and failures in Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) with error code 0x80240069. Microsoft has already addressed these issues.

Users affected by the password icon bug are advised to use the hover method as a workaround until a permanent fix is released.
