Star Citizen Alpha 4.4 PTU Update Overhauls Damage System

12 Nov 2025

The latest Star Citizen update, alpha 4.4 PTU, redefines how damage affects players, eliminating random injury occurrences. Released for Public Test Universe (PTU), the patch introduces binary trigger thresholds for injuries.

Damage Mechanics Update

In alpha 4.4, injuries from damage taken are now predictable, with thresholds defining their occurrence. The damage needed to injure body parts has increased by 1.5 times, decreasing injury frequency. The health reduction from initial tier-three injuries has been lowered. Despite these changes, injuries still impose negative effects: leg injuries slow movement, arm injuries impair aim, chest injuries deplete stamina, and head injuries affect vision and hearing.

New Features and Missions

The update also influences mission requirements. The Vanduul-Tech smugglers mission now demands a rank-one Intersec reputation. It also enables testing at the IAE Expo Hall in Orison. New equipment includes the 'Triple Threat' weapon and the 'Boomtube' missile launcher.

Exploration and Availability

Players can now explore the Nyx system, which features the Delamar asteroid and the Levski mining facility. Alpha 4.4 is open to all testing waves via the PTU. Cloud Imperium Games states this patch lacks all planned features; additional content is expected before the final release.
