The remake introduces new maps like Waterpark and a pinball-machine level, alongside levels from the original Neversoft era. The graphics are upgraded with modern touches focused on performance. Vicarious Visions' previous contributions to the series, such as improved animations and an updated soundtrack, are integrated into this release.

Controversial Changes

Some fans of the original series expressed dissatisfaction with the removal of the open-world format, drop of NPCs, and the introduction of forced timers in THPS 4. Despite these changes, many players find the reworked levels engaging and a compelling entry point for newcomers to the series.
