Warhammer Patch 6.3 Boosts Tomb Kings and Lizardmen Dynamics

27 Aug 2025

Scheduled for release on August 28, 2025, the eagerly awaited Patch 6.3 for Total War: Warhammer 3 heralds a refreshing change for fans of the Tomb Kings and Lizardmen factions. This update aims to bolster their presence within the richly detailed and strategic Warhammer universe.

A Breath of Fresh Air for Tomb Kings

In a move described by Creative Assembly as "Warhammer 3-ifying," the Tomb Kings receive an extensive overhaul. The Books of Nagash, integral to their lore, will now appear closer to starting locations, reducing the previous concentration in Nehekhara. This adjustment adds a new layer of strategy for players guiding these undead monarchs.

Significant upgrades to effects and the tech tree now ensure all Tomb King characters boast at least one skill, making them more dynamic in battle. Additionally, changes at The Great Pyramid of Settra allow skeleton warriors and spearmen to become expendable units. This shift prevents their losses from adversely affecting army morale.

In further enhancements, the unique resource of Canopic Jars is now obtainable through post-battle kills. This versatile resource can be invested to awaken units, unlock technological advancements, craft items, convert into funds, or enhance both research rates and garrison defenses.

Enhancements for Lizardmen

Meanwhile, the Lizardmen faction experiences a revitalized tech tree that eliminates numerous building prerequisites and brings consistency to unit buffs. The early economy also enjoys improvements with rebalanced building costs, construction schedules, and increased outputs.

All formidable 'beast' units are empowered with the wallbreaker attribute, allowing dinosaurs to more effectively breach enemy fortifications. In addition, unique skills have been fine-tuned, granting minor blessings to heroes. Notably, faction leader Lord Mazdamundi now begins with the potent Soul Quench spell.

To further diversitize gameplay, new free blessed units arrive for the Lizardmen, including Chameleon Stalkers, Ripperdactyl Riders, and the Sacred Kroxigor, among others, providing fresh tactical options on the battlefield.

Wider Changes and Cosmetic Enhancements

Beyond these focused faction updates, the patch introduces revamped starting traits for non-legendary characters, rebalancing their ingame effects and requirements. The Greenskins faction also sees a skill update for improved strategic depth.

The world of Warhammer will become more vibrant with the introduction of unusual locations, doubling the number of random flavor encounters. This not only enriches gameplay but expands it beyond the Old World, making it more universally appealing.

Cosmetic improvements are also under the spotlight, featuring optional camera blood splatter settings and comprehensive audio updates. Enhancements include full voicework for Alberic de Bordeleaux, additional lines for Wulfrik, and a newly introduced sound in line with lore for Throgg, refined through community feedback.

As players ready themselves for the patch's deployment, the anticipation builds for an expanded narrative and refined gaming experience, embodying Creative Assembly’s ongoing commitment to the evolution and depth of Warhammer 3.
