Hytale, originally unavailable on Steam, can now be installed on the Steam Deck through its native Linux (Flatpak) installer. This development enhances the game’s compatibility with portable gaming devices.
Installation Process for Steam Deck
To install Hytale on your Steam Deck, navigate to Desktop mode and open a web browser to download the Linux/Flatpak installer from the Hytale website. After downloading, double-click the Flatpak in the Downloads folder. When the Discover store window appears, select 'Install from local bundle'. Set a password if prompted through Discover > System > Users.
Once Hytale is installed, log in to your Hytale account. If the sign-in button fails, additional steps are provided on the Hytale site. After successfully loading the game, close it and open All Applications. Right-click on the Hytale shortcut and choose 'Add to Steam' to access it from your Steam library.
Availability on Other Devices
Windows-based handhelds, including the Asus ROG Ally, Xbox Ally X, and Lenovo Legion Go, also support Hytale installation via the Windows installer, similar to a conventional gaming PC setup. Users of these handhelds can enjoy seamless gameplay without additional compatibility steps.
