Battlestate Games Offers In-Game Currency for Reporting Cheaters

05 Jul 2024

Escape From Tarkov has been battling with cheaters since its inception, with players questioning the developer's commitment to addressing the issue. However, a new anti-cheat initiative introduced in the latest patch may change perceptions. Battlestate Games is now rewarding players for reporting rule violators, essentially placing a bounty on cheaters.

"Players will receive in-game currency compensation after the report that led to the blocking of the violator," the 0.14.9.5 patch notes reveal. "Compensation comes with an in-game message informing of a successful report. Compensation for several successful reports will be combined."

A redditor had suggested a similar bounty program over a year ago, drawing mixed reactions. Now that Battlestate has implemented the scheme, there is hope that it will be more successful than similar efforts in the past.

Changes to NPC AI Draw Attention in Escape From Tarkov

While cheaters have been a source of frustration for players, the recent patch's adjustments to NPC AI have garnered significant interest. AI-controlled PMCs are now more aggressive, reactive, and communicative. They can move freely across locations, sprint in open terrain, and respond to player interactions.

While most players view these changes positively, there are concerns that the AI enemies may now be too challenging. One player expressed apprehension, stating, "Excited for this but PMCs wandering around with aimbot on scares the shit outta me."

Offline Play Enabled for Controversial PvE Mode

In addition to the anti-cheat measures and AI improvements, the latest patch also introduces offline play for the contentious PvE mode introduced earlier this year. Battlestate Games announced that the mode will be available for purchase for all Escape From Tarkov owners once the game's infrastructure is stable and ready.
