Shift Up Considers Bringing Stellar Blade to PC

The action-adventure game Stellar Blade has gained immense popularity in 2024, becoming one of the most sought-after titles. Developed exclusively for PlayStation 5 by Shift Up, the studio is now contemplating the possibility of releasing a PC version in the future. However, due to contractual obligations, no specific details can be disclosed at this time.

During the company’s IPO press conference, Shift Up CEO Kim Hyung-Gae mentioned, “We are considering a PC version of Stellar Blade, but we cannot comment on the exact timing or release due to the contractual relationship.”

While the PS5 version of the game is set to receive additional downloadable content and collaborate with more intellectual properties, the studio remains tight-lipped about the PC release.

Shift Up’s Focus on Brand Value and Future Plans

Kim Hyung-Tae emphasized the studio’s commitment to creating an IP with high value to establish a global fanbase rather than solely focusing on profits. The team aims to minimize user discomfort, such as microtransactions, to enhance brand value and plans to communicate these aspects effectively to users in the future.

Moreover, Shift Up has expressed interest in developing a sequel to Stellar Blade, indicating a promising future for the franchise.

Recognition from Nier Franchise Creator Yoko Taro

In a meeting with Nier franchise creator Yoko Taro, Kim Hyung-Gae received high praise for Stellar Blade. Yoko Taro went as far as to say that Stellar Blade is “much better than Nier: Automata,” showcasing the game’s exceptional quality and impact on the industry.

Despite the accolades, Kim Hyung-Gae humbly acknowledged his focus on visuals rather than storytelling, highlighting his dedication to creating immersive gameplay experiences.

Stellar Blade was initially launched for PlayStation 5 on April 26 and has already sold over 1 million units, solidifying its position as a top-tier game in the market.
