The Drag-and-Drop Feature Will Arrive in Chrome for Android Version 129 Update
According to the latest updates, the drag-and-drop capability is set to debut with the upcoming version 129 of Chrome for Android, which is currently available only in the Dev channel. A recent commit titled “Enable DragDropFiles for M129” was discovered on Chromium, hinting at the imminent launch of this functionality. Once version 129 is officially released, users will be able to seamlessly transfer files from one location to another within the browser, as well as move files from the browser to other applications. This experience is expected to mirror the drag-and-drop functionality familiar to desktop users, and it appears that this feature will be enabled by default upon launch.
The “Recent Searches” Feature Is Also Likely to Be Changed in the Upcoming Release
In addition to the drag-and-drop feature, MSPoweruser has identified potential changes to the “Recent Searches” functionality in the latest Dev channel update. A new commit suggests the introduction of “Enable requesting related searches,” indicating that users may soon see related search results appear as they begin typing in the address bar. These suggestions will be conveniently displayed at the bottom of the screen, streamlining the process of recalling previous queries.
This enhancement is poised to save users valuable time when revisiting earlier searches. Importantly, the modifications to the “Recent Searches” feature are expected to be informed by user feedback, reflecting Google’s commitment to refining its applications based on real-world usage.
