Google's Gemini AI Assistant Gets New Floating Panel on Android

Google's Gemini AI Assistant Gets a Stylish Makeover on Android

Google’s Gemini AI on Android is getting a stylish makeover with a floating panel that features a sleek glowing animation. The new panel’s glow is eye-catching but doesn’t dominate your screen, and instead smartly integrates with your current app. This new interface, which is currently being rolled out, was first highlighted by 9to5Google and promises to enhance user interaction without overwhelming the screen.

The glowing animation activates when users summon Gemini, creating a visually appealing experience that complements the existing app interface. This thoughtful design ensures that the assistant is accessible without becoming a distraction.

New Features for YouTube Users

In addition to the aesthetic upgrades, the update brings a new feature for YouTube users: the “Ask about this video” chip. This replaces the previous “Ask about this screen” prompt, allowing users to easily obtain summaries or pose questions about video content. This enhancement is particularly beneficial for educational videos, as it streamlines the process of note-taking and comprehension.

While the new Gemini interface offers a more fluid user experience, it does not quite match the advanced conversational capabilities of Gemini Live, which recently launched with a more natural, chat-like interface. However, the floating panel is available to all Gemini users, unlike Gemini Live, which requires a subscription to Gemini Advanced.

Currently, these new features are being rolled out to a select group of users, with plans for a broader release in the coming weeks. The updates signify a significant step forward for Gemini, enhancing its functionality and user engagement on Android devices.
