Google Keep Adds Multi-Account Support for Android Tablets and Foldables

01 Jul 2024

Google Keep has introduced a significant enhancement for users of Android tablets and foldables, focusing on improving multi-account support. Last year, the app delighted users by enabling a split-screen mode, allowing them to view two notes simultaneously. Now, Google Keep is taking this functionality a step further by integrating multi-account support with its multi-instance feature.

Enhanced Multi-Account Support

With the new update, users can open one account on the left side of their screen and another on the right, making it easier to manage and compare notes across different accounts. This feature is particularly beneficial for those who juggle multiple Google accounts for work and personal use.

To utilize this feature, follow these steps:

  1. Select a note from the homescreen.
  2. Access the overflow menu.
  3. Choose “Open in new window.”
  4. Tap the back arrow in the top-left corner to return to the main screen.
  5. Switch accounts.

While the process may seem a bit cumbersome, it offers a substantial improvement in how users can interact with their notes. Unfortunately, you cannot use the system Recents multitasking menu to split Google Keep, as the app currently supports only one window at a time.

Benefits of Split-Screen Notes

Having two windows open side-by-side provides better insight into your notes and offers more ways to work with, display, and organize your content across multiple accounts. This feature is available to all Google Workspace customers, Workspace Individual Subscribers, and users with personal Google accounts. The update is live with version 5.24.242.03.90 of the app today.

However, it's worth noting that this capability is not yet fully available to all users but is "rolling out now." As more users gain access to this feature, it will undoubtedly enhance productivity and streamline workflows on Android tablets and foldables.
