Rocky View Schools (RVS) extends a warm ‘gg’ (Good Game) to the division winners of Level Up Calgary Season Three: Parks and Portals. This is the second year that RVS was invited to participate in Level Up Calgary, and winners from this year’s competition are:
- Alexis Paul – Northcott Prairie School
- Emma Turner & Ila Reinbold – École Edwards Elementary School
- Cole Saelhof, Temi Baiyewu, & Micah Rozema – Northcott Prairie School
- Hailey Baker & Lexy Williams – Bow Valley High School
RVS superintendent, Greg Luterbach, expressed pride in the hard work demonstrated by students and teachers during the challenge. “Level Up Calgary provides students an opportunity to use a platform many already enjoy using in their personal time and utilize it for educational purposes as they connect to the curriculum. Best of all, students have fun while they learn,” he said.
Level Up Calgary is an annual design challenge that uses Minecraft Education, hosted by the City of Calgary. Students work with a virtual rendering of online Calgary, where they select a site, review a challenge prompt, and build. This year’s event focused on creating safe, accessible, and inclusive public spaces in Haultine Park and the Green Line 4th Street Station that celebrate diversity, foster equity, and promote unity.
