KeeperFX is an open-source remake of the 1997 classic Dungeon Keeper, which allows you to relive the experience of the original title on a modern PC. In addition to a number of improvements and fixes, this remake also includes a good amount of additional content, with new campaigns, new special levels, new monsters, and improvements to the controls. All these new features, however, have been incorporated in an attempt to preserve the game's original essence. Installing KeeperFX is simple, it can be done by following just two steps. The first and perhaps the most important step is to have the original Dungeon Keeper installed on the PC, as many of these files are required. You can either use the original CD-ROM if you still have it at home, or the digital version that you can download from Origin or GOG. After installing Dungeon Keeper, you will be able to run the KeeperFX Launcher, in which you simply have to indicate the installation directory of the game. After a few seconds, a message will pop up to tell you that the process has been successful and you can start playing. Before doing so, however, you should ideally choose your preferred screen resolution. One of the key aspects of KeeperFX is that it allows you to enjoy the original game, with little variation, on a modern PC. In other words, you can play the classic Campaign Mode, with all its levels, while enjoying a higher screen resolution, and some subtle improvements in the controls. In every other respect, the game will be just how you remember it. This option allows purists to revel once more in one of the best single-player campaigns in the history of strategy video games, culminating in the legendary Skybird Trill level. Replaying the original Dungeon Keeper campaign is a lot of fun, but KeeperFX offers much, much more. You will find more than half a dozen additional campaigns, each with more than a dozen levels created by the community of fans following this game. And that's not all. As you play these new levels you will even be able to recruit new creatures, such as the Druid or Time Mage, which have their own special abilities. It is worth noting that these new creatures are only available in the new levels, not in the original ones. The original Dungeon Keeper had a multiplayer mode, but as some players may have found, the stability of online play was never its strong point. Thanks to KeeperFX that is now a thing of the past. The remake greatly improves the stability of online games, offering the possibility of playing through TCP/IP as well as through ENET/UDP. As a result, up to four players can face off in the dark dungeons of Dungeon Keeper in exciting multiplayer encounters. Download KeeperFX if you like video games and want to experience one of Peter Molyneux's latest masterpieces first-hand. Thanks to this remake you can play an iconic 1997 title, with all the comforts and advantages of a modern PC, regardless of the version of Windows you are using or your screen resolution.
