LambdaRogue: The Book of Stars is a role-playing game that mixes classic elements of the genre with others belonging to more traditional 'roguelike' games. Basically, it combines a complex, detailed story with randomly-generated levels and permanent death. The game takes place in an alternative future with a global conflict between the two races that inhabit the Earth (once of which is human). After the war, the peace treaty specifies that humanity will be destined to form colonies and live underground. Now, several years later, your hero needs to leave. The game has an interesting story that makes it necessary to talk to different characters, perform secondary missions, and more. Along the adventure, you'll explore dungeons and labyrinths full of enemies and traps. As you defeat enemies, you'll gain experience, which will eventually allow you to level-up your character and improve its abilities. As you may expect, those abilities enable you to use swords, bows, axes, and all kinds of other weapons... not to mention magic. LambdaRogue: The Book of Stars is a special title that, thanks to its hybrid gameplay, manages to offer an accessible roguelike for anyone who is just getting into the genre.
