Mi Unlock is Xiaomi's official tool for unlocking the bootloader on its Android devices. With the bootloader unlocked, you can modify the recovery, get root permissions, or flash a custom ROM. All Xiaomi handsets come with the bootloader locked, but with this tool it is possible to unlock it easily using your PC to do so. In order to use Mi Unlock, it is necessary to enable the 'OEM Unlock' and 'USB Debugging' option in the terminal settings. In addition, you will need to have your Xiaomi account associated with the device whose bootloader you want to unlock. This option is present within Developer Settings along with the other two, and requires a SIM card to be inserted in the device. After unzipping the ZIP from Mi Unlock, you have to open the executable 'miflash_unlock.exe'. It prompts you to enter your Xiaomi account. Once you are inside, you have to turn off your terminal. Once turned off, you have to leave the power and volume down buttons pressed at the same time to enter Fastboot mode. When you are in this mode, you connect the terminal via USB to your PC, and if everything is correct, you can press the 'unlock' button. This time is usually 168 hours, equivalent to 7 days. After that time, you will have to reconnect the terminal to your PC and click on the unlock button. It is important to note that when you unlock the bootloader, you lose all the information you have stored, since all the user data of the terminal is deleted.
